I, Edward, am a Computer Programmer. Our Late Husband / Father was PhD Scientist and Researcher. Due to recent critical events, we became homeless in August 2015.
• <H2> According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, "discrimination" is defined as "the practice of unfairly treating a person or group of people differently from other people or groups of people."
• <H2> We spoke with several Homeless Shelter Case Managers and they told us about HomeStart, Inc Apartment Financial Assistance Program for the homeless. The Case Managers said that HomeStart, Inc refers its Clients to specific Landlords. Two previous HomeStart Clients told us they visited HomeStart office, signed paperwork and HomeStart associates found them an apartment.
• <H2> HomeStart, Inc website states: "Our advocates work with clients from over 50 shelters and programs to obtain apartments and subsidized housing. We provide care and support to help our clients navigate through the difficult process of transitioning from a shelter to a permanent home. More than 6,000 Clients have moved into Permanent Housing."
• <H2> In August 19, 2015 we emailed Ms. Ellen Fitzpatrick and asked to help us with the apartment move-in costs. Ms. Fitzpatrick responded: "you are absolutely eligible" for HomeStart Assistance and an advocate will reach out within "next two weeks." For the next two weeks, Ms. Fitzpatrick remained silent while we suffered being homeless.
• <H2> On September 2, 2015 Mr. Tyler McEachron asked us to fill out the HomeStart "Rapid Re-Housing" Application. Later that day, we submitted the detailed 23-page completed application. Mr. McEachron told us to go find an apartment through CraigsList.
• <H2> We were forced to compete with more desirable tenants: Not-Homeless, current Landlord references, 3 months' cash on hand. Unfortunately, the Landlords refused to work with the HomeStart Program.
• <H2> We searched for an apartment through Brokerage Listings and found many apartments within our budget. The Brokers agreed to waive their fees. But when we brought up the HomeStart Program, the Brokers refused to work with us. One said: "I've been working in Boston-area Real Estate Rental Market for 20+ years. I refuse to do business with HomeStart. They don't pay their bills. When you have 3 months' cash on hand, come back and talk to me."
• <H2> For nearly a month, Ms. Ellen Fitzpatrick and Mr. Tyler McEachron remained silent. In late September, we contacted HomeStart President & Executive Director Mr. Matt Pritchard and asked for help. But Mr. Pritchard only responded with empty words.

• <H2> HomeStart, Inc has helped over 6,000 Clients. But Mr. Pritchard and HomeStart will not help us.
